The foundations of the Kurtsan Group of Companies that is in a constant growth while giving at most priority to human health, was laid exactly 50 years ago by a young pharmacist when the Gunes Pharmacy was opened in Istanbul.
Niyazi Kurtsan, pharmacist, was a successful entrepreneur who devoted himself to developing medicines and health-care products from herbs in the period of 1950’s when the “natural life” and “alternative medicine” concepts were not that prevalent. He was also a creative and productive scientist…
Niyazi Kurtsan’s tendency to herbal products was owing to his intimate faith in the curative power of nature and his strong aspiration for sharing this power with others.
It is because when he was a little child, he fell off a horse and sustained a dangerous wound in his forehead. He managed to recover thanks to the treatment applied on him by his grandfather with the use of the roots of a plant that grows in mountains; “snake’s knife”.
That was what he, our esteemed founder we lost recently, remarked as the reason for his inspiration from the nature underlying the development of curative products for human by him.

Production is conducted in our plants located in Merter, Istanbul and Bandırma, Balikesir in strict conformity with the GMP rules and ISO standards.
Our one-to-one relationships with individuals focusing on healthy life are realized in the OTACI HEALTHY SLIMMING AND NUTRITION CLUB that has reached thousands of members.
With our self-sacrificing staff of 320 employees, our network reaches every pharmacy, hospital and supermarket in all regions of Turkey. Our professional staff constituted upon our organizational efforts that we completed and have implemented since the end of 1990’s, heavily strive to serve our products, more than 100 in number, to the consumers in Turkey and in 25 countries of the world as well.
Along with the Kurtsan’s Corporate Social Responsibility practices, exemplary studies for the society are carried out.
The Kurtsan Science, Art and Education Foundation, established in the end of 80’s, award free scholarships to 40 university students with restricted economical power and of course on the precedent condition of achievement each year…
Another Social Responsibility practice implemented by Kurtsan is to finance the WOMEN’s FUND devoted to reaching social gender equality and promoting women’s economical, social and political functionalities.
Otacı, that is one of the most favorite brands of the Kurtsan Group of Companies, has a meaning of “pharmacist, doctor” in ancient Turkish. In the past, the Otacı referred to people who were pharmacists & doctors and scientist in the same time. Nevertheless this word survived only with our products today.
The first product under the “Otacı” brand is the herbal pastilles launched 25 years ago.
Pastilles were followed by the first herbal shampoo in Turkey…
Then “Otacı” combined the traditional treatment methods with modern technology and has turned out to be the first authentic brand of Turkey.
When Turkey accepted the European patents law in 1995, Kurtsan Pharmaceuticals applied with its first application for the Otacı herbal pastilles.
Upon researches conducted in the Vienna Patent Institute, herbal pastilles were found to be representing an innovation and initial patents have been granted.
Then, our Otacı Brunch branded products pioneering the diet food products market have acquired process patent.
